The trip from Gold Beach OR, to Chico, CA

We started the morning bright and early and tried not to stop as much along the coast because we knew that we had a long day of driving ahead of us.  We did snap a few more pictures of the ocean, my personal favorite place to be :), and then headed into California, where they took our freshly picked apples from our apple cider making adventure.  We were really dissappointed, but went on without saying much.  We entered the Redwood National Forest where we stopped for an hour and walked around and saw all the different trees.  From there we drove on hwy 299 through the windy mountains towards Redding and then on to Chico.  About 30 miles before Redding there was a little town that was called the Shasta Historical Site for a bunch of brick buildings that were in somewhat of disrepair, but were beautiful all the same.  Supposedly they are slowly building them back up and restoring them.  All in all it was a good day of driving but long and so the kids were a little wound up when we let them out of the car!!
